A doctor-patient relationship is about three basic things, trust, patience, and goodwill. A patient comes with concern, disdain, and sorrows and on the opposite hand, he wishes to leave with trust, patient, and goodwill. How do some doctors manage to invoke love in a very deadened patient? How do a few physicians wipe off patient's tears? Moreover, why do some healthcare professionals emit a foul kind of vibe and a few don't? Here are five such doctor-patient relationship stories, let's have a glance at them!
Respect isn't bought, it is sold. Too hard to grasp? A white apron with a heavier than any metal piece, stethoscope, and an attitude which is larger than a bamboo tree make a doctor's look more than just amicable and reputable. A 42-year-old patient looked up to this physician every morning, baited his time only for her glimpse. No, this isn't loving, this is dignity in its purest kind. She not only checked for his improvement but also gave guidance to his daughter for pursuing a medical career. Doctors don't want more doctors, but, she wasn't so. She wanted to promote her profession because she knew the market lacked in individuals like her.
What's grief? An emotion that surpasses sorrow, sadness, and depression. It knocks at your door when you are busy living your life to the fullest. It shocks you with its firm grip and guarantees to never leave you in peace! When a 58-year-old patient was diagnosed with a defect in her heart valves and a blockage in one of the arteries supplying her heart, she came in all cheery-eyed and hopeful, underwent a combined surgery and the doctor also promised her a lifetime of painless life. However, when the surgery was over, she succumbed to death within a brief span of five days, grief was all that enclosed the doctor and her relatives.

Laughter is the largest possible medicine you can offer to any patient. She took his case through his son, whom she mistook for his brother. And, she left the room leaving everybody in awe and complimenting him instead, "You're 64 years old, but you look so young!". It happens, you mistake individuals for their real age and you end up making painful patients laugh! It's a part of the whole story. Laughter is a rarity in itself. You don't see laughing faces, you see troubled people everywhere. She simply made everybody in the room laugh out loud! Laugh it up till you can, because patients need to smile, need to make their day, need to get over their troubles.
Comfort, support, a shoulder to cry on, someone who bothers about your problem, someone who is there to just hug you and give you a cheer. A 50-year-old patient diagnosed with thyroid cancer was not troubled about death, instead, she made everyone around her laugh, smile and commemorate. Her only drawback was her husband who was finding it troublesome to accept her death. He cried buckets in front of the doctor, but the doctor offered him comfort by crying with him, letting him speak, making him vent, and helping him cope with her death. The doctor gave him time, support, a restorative aid that nobody ever did!

Humility and equality are just two separate words which drift in the world of money. Apparently, wherever there is money, there is no humility, forget about equality. A 46-year-old male patient came in with a history of a chronic heart condition and was humble and humane like any other lay person. The doctor took his case with precision just for any other patient, but when she came out of his room, the nurses told her that he was the chief of surgery's brother-in-law. She had never met anyone as humble and humane as him! She was laureled by the chief of surgery for not displaying partiality but for treating with equality and humility!
